Why Your Website’s Not Converting

0

It’s a common scenario.

You send an email to your list or post a blog post designed to drive traffic to your website, then sit back and wait for the sales to pour in.

Or maybe you tweak your PPC campaign “just a bit” based on some new information you learned, only to discover that…

Yeah, you’re getting some traffic. But they’re not buying!

Or they’re not opting in. Or whatever your goal is—what you’d ideally LIKE them to do.

I can relate.

Sometimes it can be a painstaking process to work and re-work your landing page to try to uncover that secret hot button you know will just send them into a buying frenzy…

Only to be disappointed once again when you realized, “this isn’t IT!

Well, my clients regularly hire me for an in-depth video or written critique of their website.

Because they know taking just ONE of my suggestions can usually ramp up their sales by a healthy margin (in many cases, changing the headline ALONG can result in a 312% or higher conversion boost!)

So that kind of small investment to them is worth its weight in gold.

But of course I keep all my clients’ information confidential. So I can’t reveal to you what I (often) see are common areas for improvements that lead to significantly higher sales and leads.

That’s why I’ve decided to put together a brief video that shows you some of the most overlooked opportunities for bigger profits and huge responses.

So sit back, relax, have a pad and pen handy, and watch this free video that spills the beans on some quick tweaks YOU can make to your website in minutes that could have a massive impact on your bottom line.

Some of these you may already know. But I’ll wager you pick up at least a gem or two in there somewhere.

And anyway, it’s free, short, and to the point.

Enjoy!

Now I know I can’t cover every aspect of a salesletter in a short video like this. This isn’t meant to be a step-by-step course on copywriting.

Instead, it’s some quick hits you may have overlooked that could really make a difference in your bank account.

And I’d love to hear any results you wouldn’t mind sharing.

Cheers!

John

    Hi John,

This was a terrific video and I am glad you posted on this specific topic. I was about to purchase your “critique offer” until you upped the price by $20 :-(

Thanks again and keep this good stuff coming,

    Mark

    Hi John,
This was a very informative video. Thanks for sharing your valuable knowledge in this blog.
I hope that part 2 or 3 will talk some more about layout. I noticed that some of your examples use a two-column design, and I’m wondering if that improves readability and comprehension.

    Thanks, Mark and Bev!

I have a good portion of part 2 done, but I’m running into the same problem as with part 1! Too much stuff to cover, even as briefly as I cover it.

So I’m thinking that maybe after part 2 I’ll do a free live webinar. What do you think? Then I can go into more depth in some areas where folks want it and gloss over more commonly-known stuff or stuff that people aren’t interested in as much.

    Thanks!

    John

John, a live webinar is a fantastic idea, and it would be very generous of you to host one. If you decide to do one, count me in!

The webinar sounds like a great idea!

    Look forward to it Jon!

    Tks,

John, I’m in for a webinar. I can see how you have trouble condensing all this into a few videos.

As for anyone not taking you up on that critique because you raised the price $20…??? Oh, well, I value your advice and hope you cover things like strong offers and scarcity.

    Hey Chuck,

John sent out an irresistable offer a critique for $47 – now that is a good deal.

However – moments later pulled it and said sorry it’s now $67 – not cool!

I value John’s insight as well and am interested in if you took him up on his critique deal or not? If not perhaps you should not comment on that situation!

    John,

Thanks for this video. I especially liked the info about the pre-heading which I hadn’t thought of before.

One question I had was how did you get the blue bar at the bottom of the page about signing up to receive updates and news etc.

    Thanks,

    Rahul

    Thanks all, for your feedback!

Yes, even part 2 won’t be able to cover everything, and the stuff it does will be quick-hits.

That’s why I thought the webinar idea would work, and I’m glad you agree.

Mark, as to the $20 price increase, I originally did offer the critiques for $47 with that big catch–that I needed websites to tear apart in a couple of upcoming products in the works, and yours would be the ones I included, with your consent, of course.

Later I realized I had a few lesson gaps I needed to fill and were looking for specific sites that met my criteria, so I extended the offer again, but at a slight investment increase.

It’s not uncommon to offer “early bird specials” and give price-breaks to the first ones to act on the offer, then raise the price later on.

In fact, it’s a strategy I recommend and will even be talking about when I cover scarcity selling in part 2 of the video! It gives people an incentive to act now, and not wait until later when the price goes up.

In fact, I made the same offer in “A Sneak Peek at The Copywriter’s Toolkit 2.0″ where folks could get version 1 now and be upgraded to the shipped version 2 on DVDs and CDs for pennies on the dollar to cover S&H later on if they wish:

Rahul, the blue bar at the bottom is a product I use called Instant Slideup (instantslideup.com).

    Cheers,

    John
