Can This Kind of Value-Building Work For You?
My wife and I ate dinner tonight at a local Red Robin restaurant. They bill themselves as having “Gourmet Burgers and Spirits.”
While we didn’t have any spirits, we did try their gourmet burgers. They were good, without a doubt. But the one thing that stood out was their “bottomless steak fries” that you get with every burger. Indeed, any sandwich, I believe.
Why is this important? Continue Reading »

The Power of Forums
A lot of people think posting to forums is a waste of time. It CAN be, if you’re there just to chat or kill time. But forums represent a tremendous opportunity on many fronts if you use them correctly.
Now I’m not going to talk about marketing your products and services through forums. Not exactly. It’s been discussed many times before by people a lot smarter than me. But I will talk about something that anyone who chooses to sell through a forum outlet will want to know. Continue Reading »

First Facebook, Now What?
A few days ago I wrote about how I finally jumped on the Facebook bandwagon.
Since then as you probably know, I’ve been connecting with lots of people for networking and friendship purposes.
It’s a great way to build relationships and get in contact with other like-minded business folks, any one of who could be the missing link in a future (or present) project of yours. Continue Reading »

Am I The Last One To Notice This?
Ok, yesterday I wrote about my new adventures with Facebook. Looks like I’ll have much more to write about in the days ahead about Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, among others.
But something interested happened today that I want to share with you. You may slap yourself in the forehead and say, “John, you idiot, this is old news.”
That may be, but this is the first time I’ve noticed it.
Here’s what I mean… Continue Reading »

Speaking of Killer Apps…
I have a confession to make.
I might be addicted to Facebook.
I originally signed up with Facebook to test out some pay per click ads. While I did get traffic, it wasn’t the kind of targeted QUALITY traffic I wanted. But hey, you never know until you test, right?
Well, a couple of my marketing buddies saw I had a Facebook account and added me as their friend. Then I started searching to see who else I knew had an account on Facebook. Continue Reading »

Seize the Opportunity to “Wow” Your Customers
In the past I’ve written about customer service as an important marketing strategy. There are opportunities all around you to expand on your marketing in ways that may not be so obvious.
Retaining your existing customers certainly falls in that category. I’ve talked about how to reactivate lost customers before, but it would be even better if you never lost them in the first place. Continue Reading »

Birthing Pains?
John Reese just launched his new blog, and for his first post, he’s released an eagerly anticipated report entitled, The Rebirth of Internet Marketing.
Now those of you who know me and my work know that there are some smart marketers I tend to watch very closely, and John Reese is definitely one of them. Unlike the majority out there, John actually conducts real-world tests, and (get this)…really acts on what he learns from them. Continue Reading »

No Reply At All…
I just got a broadcast email from a marketer whose products I use. He was wishing me a Happy Easter!
I instinctively hit reply to the email and was about to wish him the same, when I realized my Outlook had addressed the email to: noreply@hisdomain.com.
Well, that stopped me dead in my tracks!
It occurred to me at that moment how many times over the years I had tried to reply to an email I received, and had the dreaded “noreply@whatever…” nomenclature appear in my “To” field. Continue Reading »

Why I Read Blogs & An Update…
Ok, it’s been some time since I’ve posted, and I feel I should explain why.
You see, not only am I booked solid writing for my clients, I also have a project of my own in the works that I’ve been trying to get moving along when I have the time.
I moved this blog from the old Blogger site to here with the intention of taking it in some new directions. That’s still my goal.
In the past, I’ve only posted when I had time to sit down and write an article about a worthwhile topic. While I still intend to write about worthwhile topics, I’m going to make it a point to write more frequently, even if it’s just a quick update on something, a rant, or something I think you’ll find interested. Even if it isn’t a polished long article.
So, that being said. Let me give you a brief update on what’s been happening lately. Continue Reading »
